Miscellaneous
If you've made it to this section of my website you must already know quite a bit about me! But, of course, my academic
and professional background only tell part of the story.
Outside of work and school, I have a couple of hobbies that occupy my time. First is music. I've been a music lover since
childhood, both as a listener and as a musician. For several years after high school I played drums in various punk bands
in the LA area, but after starting college I found that I no longer had time to devote to a band (if you've ever played in a
band, you know how time consuming it can be!). I then decided to take up guitar and piano to satisfy my love of music and
I now play and record cheesy covers of classic rock and folk songs with my boyfriend. We are true amateurs, but our friends
and family don't seem to mind. You can go to our myspace page
if you'd like to hear what we sound like.
Another interest of mine is computer languages. I first became interested in HTML a couple of years ago when I decided to
create a myspace page. In order to customize my page, I began doing Google searches on HTML and learned the basics through
online tutorials and discussion forums. You can view the results here. I also
used HTML to create the site you are viewing now, which was fun because I got to learn a lot about tables and page formatting
in the process. In addition to HTML, I am interested in programming languages. I have just begun to learn
the basics of the Python language and I am excited about the possibility of using it to create programs
that will assist me in my linguistics research.
All right, if you've found yourself at the end of this page it probably means that you know everything you can
learn about me without contacting me directly. Now, go send me an e-mail at lapham.j@worldnet.att.net!
